He began a different life for himself, which did not include Gilbert.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"qj\">After leaving Beverly Hills, Landon and Lynn\u2019s divorce was finalized, and Gilbert cut ties with the actor. In April 1991, the actor was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"qj\">The news was a big blow to Landon and his family, but he made sure to stay strong and have hope. The actor passed away three months after the diagnosis, on July 1, 1991. He was 54.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"adv\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"qj\">For Gilbert, the decision to go to Landon carried enormous personal weight. Having lost her own father to suicide when she was 11, she understood all too well the pain of a goodbye that never came.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Qi\" data-testvisibility=\"content-visibility\">\n<section class=\"Hd Id Ti\">\n<div class=\"yd\"><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"qj\">\u201cI had been running from the grieving process my whole life and trying to avoid it. But it was really important for me to go and have that goodbye time, which I didn\u2019t have with my father. . . . The actress said it was challenging to develop a eulogy that adequately described her relationship with Landon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"qj\">But with the help of her husband Timothy Busfield, Gilbert was able to come up with something fitting. Many turned up for the funeral to pay their last respect, but sadly, Lynn was not one of them. According to her, there was no need to attend the funeral since, after their divorce, Landon was already dead to her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2 class=\"vj\"><strong class=\"oj\">LIFE AFTER THE ACTOR\u2019S DEATH<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"qj\">Life after Landon\u2019s death and the funeral was tough for Clerico and the actor\u2019s children.
